The herbal medicine is made from plants grown on Kenya’s southern coast, according to a statement by the National Association of Kenyans of Medical and Scientific Research.
The herbal tea is not a drug and is used for healing, the statement said.
Kenya’s health minister has said that the herbal medicine costs about $1,5 million per year.
The ministry did not provide details of the cost of the herbal tea, which is a mixture of the leaves of a medicinal tree and leaves from other medicinal plants.
The National Association said the herbal teas are available for free at the National Pharmacy on the outskirts of Nairobi and can be purchased for around $1 each.
